Yaw is fully functional without a license. A license removes the occasional reminder and supports continued development.
Already have a key? Open yaw → Settings → License to activate.
Lost your key? Look up your order.
All features work without a license. No restrictions, no time limits, no feature gates.
Do I have to pay?
No. Yaw is free to download and fully functional without a license. The only difference is an occasional reminder and "(Unregistered)" in the title bar.
What do I get with a license?
The reminder and title bar text go away. Every feature works the same either way.
Can I use one license on multiple devices?
Individual licenses have no device limit - install on every machine you own. Yaw Team licenses are per-seat: one key activates one device at a time. To move a seat to a new machine, have the user deactivate from the old one first (Settings → License → Deactivate), or contact us to release it.
What happens if my subscription lapses?
Yaw Team licenses revalidate every 72 hours. If your subscription is past due or cancelled, or if our validation server is unreachable, Yaw keeps working for a 7-day grace period so there’s no hard lockout - plenty of time to update billing or wait out an outage without disrupting your team. After grace, the license returns to unregistered and the occasional reminder comes back.
Is it a subscription?
Individual licenses are a one-time purchase. Yaw Team licenses are per-seat subscriptions, billed monthly ($20/seat) or annually ($200/seat - save 17%).
Does Yaw send my data anywhere?
No. Yaw doesn’t ship usage analytics, telemetry, or command tracking - your sessions, history, and connections live on your machine. The only outbound traffic is license activation/validation against Lemonsqueezy, update checks against yaw.sh, and AI requests sent directly from your machine to whichever provider you’ve configured. See our privacy policy or why your terminal shouldn’t phone home for the full picture.
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit card and PayPal via Lemonsqueezy, our merchant of record.
