Yaw is fully functional without a license. A license removes the occasional reminder and supports continued development.
Open your license page and switch there. Your existing subscription changes over in place, so your license key stays the same, no device needs re-activating, and there is never a moment where both plans bill. You keep the month you have already paid for.
Buying the yearly plan with the button below instead starts a second subscription alongside your monthly one and issues a new license key you would have to re-activate on every machine. Email us if that has already happened and we’ll sort it out.
Already have a key? Open yaw → Settings → License to activate.
Lost your key? Look up your order.
All features work without a license. No restrictions, no time limits, no feature gates.
Do I have to pay?
No. Yaw is free to download and fully functional without a license. The only difference is an occasional reminder and "(Unregistered)" in the title bar.
What do I get with a license?
The reminder and title bar text go away. Every feature works the same either way.
Can I use one license on multiple devices?
Yes - the Yaw Terminal license works on up to 5 devices. You can see which devices your license is active on, and release one you no longer have access to, at yaw.sh/license.
My laptop died and I cannot deactivate it. Am I stuck?
No. Go to yaw.sh/license, enter your license key, and we will email a sign-in link to the address you bought with. From there you can release the seat that machine is still holding, without waiting on us.
Is it a subscription?
Yes - $10/month or $100/year. Yaw ships a release most days, and the subscription is what pays for that pace. Yaw MCP is free.
I bought the old one-time license. Does it still work?
Yes, forever. Every one-time license ever sold stays valid, keeps receiving updates, and will never be downgraded or asked to subscribe. Nothing you need to do.
What happens if I cancel?
Yaw keeps working - every feature, no time limit. You go back to the occasional reminder and “(Unregistered)” in the title bar, exactly as before you subscribed.
Does Yaw send my data anywhere?
No. Yaw doesn’t ship usage analytics, telemetry, or command tracking - your sessions, history, and connections live on your machine. The only outbound traffic is license activation/validation against Lemonsqueezy, update checks against yaw.sh, and AI requests sent directly from your machine to whichever provider you’ve configured. See our privacy policy or why your terminal shouldn’t phone home for the full picture.
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit card and PayPal via Lemonsqueezy, our merchant of record.
