Yaw does not collect or store your content or personal information. There is no behavioral analytics, no command tracking, and no account system. Your terminal activity stays on your machine.
Yaw is not offline-only. It checks for updates, activates license keys, and sends two anonymous counters described under Network Requests, which lists every request the application makes on its own.
Yaw does not transmit your activity. The application does not send your commands, sessions, AI conversations, file contents, or connection details to Yaw Labs servers.
This is every network request Yaw makes on its own behalf. Anything not on this list is a connection you asked for.
Requests to yaw.sh are served by a third-party hosting provider, which may keep standard server logs (IP address, request URL, timestamp) as part of delivering them, governed by their own privacy policy. We do not store an IP address, device identifier, or any other identifier alongside the install count or the setup wizard summary.
This list reflects the release current at the "Last updated" date above. If you find a request Yaw makes that is not described here, tell us at contact@yaw.sh and we will either document it or remove it.
Yaw stores the following data on your local machine only:
None of this data is transmitted to Yaw Labs or any third party.
When you use Yaw's built-in AI assistant, API requests travel directly from your machine to the AI provider you choose (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, Mistral, Amazon Bedrock, OpenRouter, HuggingFace, or Ollama). Yaw does not proxy, intercept, log, or inspect these requests. We have no infrastructure that handles your AI traffic.
If you use Ollama, all AI processing happens locally on your machine with zero network traffic.
If you have a license, Yaw contacts Lemonsqueezy (our payment processor) to activate, validate, or deactivate your key. The information exchanged is limited to your license key, its status, and a device name Yaw registers so the 5-device limit can be enforced - that name is your computer's hostname plus its operating system (for example my-laptop-darwin). Nothing else about the machine is sent.
Subscription licenses re-check with Lemonsqueezy periodically (roughly every three days, with a grace window if the check cannot complete) so a cancelled subscription stops showing as licensed. Legacy one-time licenses activate once and make no further contact. Without a license key, Yaw never contacts Lemonsqueezy at all.
Lemonsqueezy processes payments and stores your purchase information (name, email, payment details) as the merchant of record. Their privacy policy governs that data: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
Yaw checks for application updates by contacting yaw.sh. This request contains only your current version number and platform. No personal data or usage information is included.
The yaw.sh website is a static site served by a third-party hosting provider. We do not use analytics, tracking scripts, or cookies on the website. Our hosting provider may collect standard server logs (IP address, request URL, timestamp) as part of delivering the site, governed by their own privacy policy.
Yaw does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Since Yaw does not collect email addresses or maintain user accounts, we cannot notify users directly - please check this page periodically.
